A casters level of magery represents their innate power to manipulate magic. Thus adding their magery-level to all spell they have skillspoints invested in. However it does not widen a individuals understanding or knowledge concerning spells. A caster can specialize on casting spells, making him/her able to use more spells in combat than ususal.
Magery level:Add magery level to spells you have spent points on.
Example:
A GURPS wizard with magery level 2 that has the fireball spell at level 13, adds his magery level to his spells in Middle-earth. Fireball skill adds up to 15 (13+2).
Fatigue points when casting spells:Fatigue points costs 3 points/level and cant be increased more than 30% of Health stat in GURPS. In Middle-earth the FP-stat has one special enhancement.
- A caster can buy Fatigue points for only 2 points/level for up to 30% of the Health stat in addition to the original 30% (60%). But the extra FaP bought from the special enhancement cant be be used for physical feats, only casting!
Example:
A mage with 10 HT can buy 4FP (40% out of 10FP) to spend on spells only, and 3FP (30% of HT) for the regular rule. Added up= 17FP (where 4 of them are reserwed for spellcasting and not physical feats)
Special attacks:Innate attack and affliction are traits that monsters and magical beasts wield. A dragon breaths fire because the power of his heart fuels this ability, ghosts drain people of their mental and physical health. A human cannot take Innate attack p.61 or affliction p. 35, referance:
Law of equalent exchange. A human needs a powersource to fuel such abilities. Thus Magery is one way to do just that by burning FP or HP. A half dragon can have Innate attack: fire breath, but in most cases the power of the firebreath will not exceed the power and size of a true dragons firebreath.
