In the forest located east from Mirethorn, a forest giant named Nelder, was under attack by a horde of hobgoblins with siege engines and a group of ogres led by monstrous abberants. These creatures were apparently allies under the command of an Oni, an evil spirit inhabiting an ogre mage working together with a powerful necromancer named Malifus. The purpose of the giant`s defeat remains unknown.
The group proved victorious and found a letter on the necromancers corpse;
"Greetings Master Malifus
The plan is set into motion. We have confirmed that the divine channeling crystal you have aquired will be more than sufficient for the task at hand.
Once you have surged as many souls of the seven chosen offsprings as possible we can complete what we began so long ago. We shall bring salvation upon this wretched world, and we shall reap the rewards promised to the faithful and devoted. Eternal life be ours! In Fidem (Into faith)
