Middle-earth

There was a time when the world was slowly plunging into darkness and chaos. A time with witchcraft and sorcery. A time where nearly none stood against evil.

Eboracum

Eboracum, The golden land Gladia11

8 million people

History and climate

Thirty years ago the are consisted of four countries, but Imperator Andronicus conquared the other three. Thus came Ebracum to life.

Eboracum enjoys a Mediterranean climate typical of the Volcanic coasts. With endless yellow weat fields worked by farmers, and guarded by the legions of Vallentia. The houses have bright brown roofs made from thin stonebricks. The houses are easily recognized by their white stone walls. Geologists believe the active volcano on Isle of Fu is one of the reasons for the warmer climate in the southern regions, but they do not know for sure. Spring and autumn are mild to warm, and the Eboracum ottobrate ("beautiful October days") are known as being sunny and warm. By August, the maximum diurnal temperature often exceeds 30 °C (86 °F). Traditionally, many businesses were accustomed to closing during August, while the people of Eboracum visited their neighbouring countries to trade and do business. In the last two centuries, however, in response to growing economy and changing work habits, the capitol has been staying open for the whole summer and winter. The average high temperature in January is about 12.9 °C (55.2 °F), but in hot periods it can be higher, while subzero lows are not uncommon. Snowfalls can occur in December, January, February and March. Within the last four decades they have been rare in Eboracum. During the night of Feb 3-4, 1200, the city experienced its heaviest snowfall since February 11, 900, resulting in up to 70 centimeters of snow accumulation in some areas, paralysing the city. This forced them to become more independant in the later years.
Generally – summer's season lasts about 6 months, from May to October.

Animal life
- Brown bears have over the century migrated from the mountainous of Barbandos and into Eboracum, shunned by farmers for attacking their animals.
- The dangerous wild wolves
- The vicious wildcats
- Deer are a common sight.
- In addition, there are believed to be upwards of 20 different reptile species inhabiting Eboracum including several snake species.
- The presence of several environments between the sea and the mainland (lagoon, beach, wood, meadow, fishing valley, pond) makes it an ideal place for the stop and the nesting of several species of birds, Glass birds, while others simply spend the winter here.

Sea life
Alternatively, sailing in the waters off the coast of Eboracum may lead you to be lucky enough to spot dolphins, swordfish and even white sharks that are believed to swim in the Mediterranean Sea off the southern Coast.

Politics
Emperor Andronicus is the sovereign ruler of the imperial realm Eboracum. Emperors are generally recognized to be of a higher honor and rank than kings. To be an emperor presents a great deal of demands, Andronicus is such a man. He is the one ruler, with a counsil of advicers below him, and together they rule with strong heart. Disciplin and comradeship are important values Imperator Andronicus favour.

Economy
wheat fields can be found all over Eboracum.. Forests all as mining in the mountains. The gnomes living in this reagon have settled down here at their own initiative. They are popular amongst the Eboraci people for their crafting skills, And so they create a lot of different things which they can sell for a hefty profit. The gnomes even invent varied mechanisms which have been used for the gladiator arenas for more entertainment. The state of Eborcaum earn alot of money on the gladiator fights. People love them and keep moral and spirit high all over the realm, the same can be said about the income.

Other than that the gnomes invented hydraulic mining. Surface streams of water were diverted so as to erode gold-bearing gravels, dislodge rock material or move sediment. This has proven to be effective.

The Capitol
The Colosseum, or the Coliseum, (Colosseo), is an elliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Vallentia, Eboracum, the largest ever built in the Eboracian Empire. It is considered one of the greatest works of Eboraci architecture and engineering.
Capable of seating 75,000 spectators, the Colosseum is used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. In the later years upgrades have been made adn new expanded sections are used for purposes such as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious orders, a fortress, a quarry, and a shrine each for Tulkas and Leos.

Their own crafts:

Wheat/farming->windmills or waterwheels->flower for bread, baking->trading

Foresting-Wood-Timber

Farming-sheep-meat-wool-cloth-tailoring- the finest silks

Cattle->meat->skinning->leather - fine leatherworking

Stone quarries->sand->gravel->stone->building materials of exceptional quality

Mining->Silver veins+gold veins, iron ore -> gold smiths (Jewelry, fancy armor/weapons, statues, goblets/plates etc.)

Iron smelters->steel smelters->blacksmithing->armory/weapons->tools (same with bornze and steel)

A great river of 600 km leads through Vallentia, and a great aqueduct was built and connected with this river. An aqueduct is a water supply or navigable channel constructed to convey water. In a more restricted use, aqueduct (occasionally water bridge) applies to any bridge or viaduct that transports water—instead of a path, road or railway—across a gap. Large navigable aqueducts are used as transport links for boats or ships. Aqueducts must span a crossing at the same level as the watercourses on each end. Hence Eboracum is a low-land aqueducts are built and stretch to the two nearest cities to trade and tranpsort people, wares, food and whatever is necessary. This is one of Vallentia`s strenghts.

Economic status in Eboracum:
With many people the manpower is excellent, but this also opens up for illegal slavetrading. The Colosseum reassures Vallentia with a lot of coin, and their resources and wares are of great interest for foreigners. The silk of Eboracum is of the finest in Middle-earth, and even the vikings have laid port and traded with the Eboraci people. Wheat, gold (crafts) agricultural products and manpower is the main resource of Eboracum. Highways spills out of the capital to transport armies and goods to all corners of the empire.

Military defensive/offensive force, siege weapons:
The Eboraci are very focused on military power, and with their large numbers of citizen the Eboraci army is quite impressive. Other than that the greatest cities have mighty walls matched with siege weapons.

The lands:
Fortifications can be found almost anywhere in the country, but mostly located near the borders. There are patrols near the greatest farms due to their importants for food supply to the cities.

The Capitol:
In Vallentia the colosseum resides, filled with bloodthirsty gladiators who enjoy winning the peoples hearts. Some of the glatiators used to serve in the imperial army of Eboracum, and if called to war they gladly join the fray. Teamed up with the highly disciplined imperial army of Eboracum, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Allies
No agreements or specific treaties is active other than trading routes. It is far to the nearest country, and they have enough with their own troubles concerning slavetrading, bandits and maurauding barbarians.

Organized magic
An order of battle priests worship Leos and Tulkas. They priech their words and make examples for the people of Eboracum. Honor, duty and respect. Once a month these great priests do battle in the Colosseum, and it takes days to clean up the destruction their might and powers conjure.
