Middle-earth

There was a time when the world was slowly plunging into darkness and chaos. A time with witchcraft and sorcery. A time where nearly none stood against evil.

Land of the Colossus
Alodia, the land of giants and smallfolk.

History
In ancient times while Morgoroth was defeated, he slew one of the avatars that opposed him. This construct fell from the heavens and down to a region which in the 3rd age is known as Alodia. His remains are scattered throughout all of Alodia. The colossal weight of his fall created the deep valleys and crevises that one can see in the wild and beautiful landscape. With the ages of time he grew into the earth and became one with the land. His essence may have done something to the area, as giants and other gargantuan creatures roam this "arena" of blood. Here the strong prey on the weak.

The societies
Many of the giantblood races and smallfolk hail from Alodia. The wild nature of the land rewards strenght and cunning. There are many societies spread throughout Alodia. Numerous savage tribes of giants or ogres have their own terretories in the mountains and some on the open plains. The gnomes inhabit the hills and areas where the giants are less frequent. Here they build their cities and inhabit the caves for protection and shelter. Halflings build hidden homes in the ground and lower hills. So small are these communities that giants that cross these areas pass through unaware of their presence. Ogres and smaller giants on the other hand have proved to be a more severe threat.

The lands of Alodia are untouched by industrial deslolation, and the druids aim to keep it that way.

The primal powers of Alodia

Dragons
This is the land where there have been sighted dragons in the highest peaks. When these great wyrms soar the skies even the giants cower and flee for safety. Alodia is one of the few lands that house dragon graveyards. Storms of elemental energy wash over these graveyard, and elemental vortexes ravage the area. The dragon spirits are said to haunt these graveyards, and even the remains of dead dragons have been said to animate and walk about. Luckily the dragon graveyards are located on the talles peaks of Alodia, far from civilized lands. The first Dragon Shamans hail from Alodia. They venture into the world seeking means to increase their power, wisdom or knowledge, hoping to someday earn the attention of one of the great wyrms that soar the skies of Middle-earth.

Druids and shamans
Alodia house some of the most powerful shamans and druids of Middle-earth. In the white plains located in the Valley of Thunder, the air collides and conjure a chaotic storm that lingers for months at a time. Grand tempests scorch and tear everything in its path. The primal powers here seem to become alive when they are unleashed. So mighty are the energies that they spawn elementals of many kinds which wanders off into the far reaches of Middle-earth. It is in this valley the shamans and druids of Alodia draw upon their strenght.

The Valley of Thunder
No place wield more primal power than Alodia with the Valley of Thunder at its centre. The legends claim that The Valley of Thunder is where the Collossus`s heart lay broken and later perished. Despite his demise the heart continued to beat, pulsing his essence into the very land. Today the people of Alodia believe the thunderstorms are the remnants of the colossus`s soul.

Natural calamities
As colossal currents of air ravage the lands from time to time, some collisions are so grand that they conjure natural disasters unseen by other parts of Middle-earth. Examples are tornadoes, thunderstorms and cyclones.

As if tornados aren't bad enough on their own, sometimes air can swirl around and make a whirlwind that has considerable amounts of water (waterspout), dirt (dust devils), or even fire (fire whirl).

Fire whirls
Fire whirls aren’t associated with thunderstorms and aren’t as strong as traditional tornadoes (can we all just pause for a moment to be thankful for that?). They aren't really considered rare, but they typically happen around wildfires. The lack of strength in the fire tornadoe does not make them less dangerous as the they actually consists of fire. Anything caught in its wake is consumed, incinerated or carbonized by the roaring flames.

The gifts granted to the guardians of Alodia
Shamans and druids can tap into their visions and dreams and commune with the nature and spirit world in ways one cannot begin to imagine. There is almost no wound they cant heal. There is almost nothing that can withstand their destructive powers. Even the dragon races are said to have been born in the first tempest of the collossus where it fell.

Druids that walk the wild of Alodia tend to be of the mightiest shapeshifters in all of Middle-earth. The chaotic energies of the earth, air and the wilds are so overwhelming that many are lost in their transformation. This requires an iron will and strenght to control it. Those that succeed reap its rewards and are granted the privilege of becoming one of Alodias`s Arch Druids.

The sharp arclike mountainpeaks of the north bear tales and myths of their origin. It is said that the arclike peaks are splintered bone and remains of the great colossus. Elders tell these stories by evening bonfires to mezmerize their younglings.

One of the major gnome cities. The gnomes tend to build in hidden areas that are either very high up in in the mountains or in areas where it is difficult or literally impossible for giants to travel. Gnomes have a natural aptitude for illusion. If evere a giant would pass through their borders, the gnomes benefit from their arcane tricks by distorting and concealing their location.

In the southern region of Alodia a seemingly eternal winter reigns. Even stranger that the long abandoned temples in the mountains house a different architecture and cultural display. Only the most learned scholars can draw out the similarities between the temples in this region and those of the far western kingdom of Raxxan.
